We are composed of singers who have been singing for many years, and have recently joined to form Standing Horse. We have a unique style which we sing both Strait and Contemp styles. We were all brought up around the drum and learned what it is to be a singer. It is important that we carry ourselves with respect for the drum and others around the drum. Profile The Huisache (pronounced wee sach) Creek Singers is a family drum. We are a Southern Style Lipan Apache Drum that originated in 1971. The songs that we sing are written primarily by Robert Soto and some by Ruben Soto. The songs are inter-tribal songs written in our native Lipan Apache Language. We have been blessed with the opportunities to be host d rum at various pow wows in the deep South Texas Region. Our drum consists of the Soto Family who are Lipan Apache; Carrie Felps - Blackfeet; Homer & Chris Hinojosa - Mescalero Apache, Blackfoot, Cherokee; Phillip Batres - Kikapoo/Lipan Apache; and Mando Lucio - Apache. Gould (Nanticoke Lenape) Jason Porter (Mohawk) Profile Red Blanket is a Southern Style Drum Group mostley comprised of tribal citizens of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribe. Other tribes represented are Mohawk, Taino, and many others. We travel to various Pow-wows up & down the East Coast. Round 6 Blackbird Vote Now Blackbird Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Singers Graham Primeaux Cortney Yarholar Amos Littlecrow Rock Pipestem Joe Lietka John Lietka Derrick Topiah Mike Tartsa Evan Ortiz Jr Killsknight Matt Littlecreek Profile The Blackbird singers are second generation to the Brave Scout singers of Pawnee Oklahoma. In the early 1980’s Graham Primeaux. and cousins started a drum group called the Blue Hawk singers. With the passing of their grandfather, George Shields Sr. in 1987, the drum group adopted his Indian name “Blackbird? as the name of their drum group as a tribute to his life. Since then the group has grown and is still comprised of family and friends representing various tribes including: Pawnee, Otoe, Sac and Fox, Sioux, Ponca, Creek & Seminole, Cheyenne and many more. To this day the Blackbird singers represent a strong family history and act as role models to encourage youth to pursue positive life styles. All the members are respected individuals in the community; many hold degrees and professional positions in the native community. |

With the passing of their grandfather, George Shields Sr. in 1987, the drum group adopted his Indian name “Blackbird? as the name of their drum group as a tribute to his life. Since then the group has grown and is still comprised of family and friends representing various tribes including: Pawnee, Otoe, Sac and Fox, Sioux, Ponca, Creek & Seminole, Cheyenne and many more. To this day the Blackbird singers represent a strong family history and act as role models to encourage youth to pursue positive life styles. All the members are respected individuals in the community; many hold degrees and professional positions in the native community. |

The songs that we sing are written primarily by Robert Soto and some by Ruben Soto. The songs are inter-tribal songs written in our native Lipan Apache Language. We have been blessed with the opportunities to be host d rum at various pow wows in the deep South Texas Region. The Drum Group composes and sings their own songs. Preyin' Eagle loves to sing and make the dancers dance. They sing for the dancers, elders and all of the people who are there. The group asks for blessings from the drum so that when the dancers dance or when the people listen to the music, they will be cured of any ailments and also to make the people feel good and energizied. Preyin Eagle singers are mostly O'Odham from Salt River, Gila River, Tohono O'Odham and from other tribes such as: Hopi, Chippewa, Navajo, Northern Cheyenne, Semole. |

We have been blessed with the opportunities to be host d rum at various pow wows in the deep South Texas Region. In the early 1980’s Graham Primeaux. and cousins started a drum group called the Blue Hawk singers. With the passing of their grandfather, George Shields Sr. in 1987, the drum group adopted his Indian name “Blackbird? as the name of their drum group as a tribute to his life. Since then the group has grown and is still comprised of family and friends representing various tribes including: Pawnee, Otoe, Sac and Fox, Sioux, Ponca, Creek & Seminole, Cheyenne and many more. To this day the Blackbird singers represent a strong family history and act as role models to encourage youth to pursue positive life styles. All the members are respected individuals in the community; many hold degrees and professional positions in the native community. |

R.T.B is short for the name "Rolling Thunder Boyz", influenced by a buffalo that lived on the rez. Members of the group came and went as with any drum group but the dedicated and devoted are right before you now. All singers are Southern Ute, Northern Ute, Ute Mountain Ute, Pawnee, Cheyenne, Navajo, as well as Pueblo. R.T.B was mentored by 12 Gauge, so in turn the group has an influential sound mixed in along with many other influences that make the R.T.B style. |

In the early 1980’s Graham Primeaux. and cousins started a drum group called the Blue Hawk singers. With the passing of their grandfather, George Shields Sr. in 1987, the drum group adopted his Indian name “Blackbird? as the name of their drum group as a tribute to his life. Since then the group has grown and is still comprised of family and friends representing various tribes including: Pawnee, Otoe, Sac and Fox, Sioux, Ponca, Creek & Seminole, Cheyenne and many more. To this day the Blackbird singers represent a strong family history and act as role models to encourage youth to pursue positive life styles. All the members are respected individuals in the community; many hold degrees and professional positions in the native community. |
